What is an Affinity Performing Arts Summer Theatre Workshop?

Our 5-day summer workshop is intended as a fun summer learning experience for
the young person who wants to explore theatre without the pressure of auditions or
the time commitment of participating in a full-scale production.

We limit our workshop enrollment to 22 participants in each session.
When it comes to theatre workshops, bigger is not better!

Younger students will get an introduction to basic acting techniques delivered in a
format of play and fun. Older kids will dive a little deeper into technique,
but the focus will remain on creativity, fun and exploration.

Each day of class is different, emphasizing varied aspects of acting, movement
and vocal technique. We will find out about basic stage principles, explore a variety
of acting techniques (including acting for the camera), learn how to develop a character,
do monologues & scenes, create a few choreographed dance & movement pieces,
learn vocal technique for both speaking and singing on stage, as well as have
a lot of fun playing age-appropriate theatre games and doing improvisation.

The last hour of the last day of the workshop week will be an “open class” where
parents and family members are invited to come and see what the kids have been up to. 
The students have a chance to “showcase” what they have learned and share it with their
loved ones.  It’s the perfect culmination of a very packed, yet fun and playful summer week.

Who can participate?

Entering 4th through 9th graders
No audition is required!

How much does it cost?

The total cost for our summer workshop is $125 per student. For the second student from the same family, we offer a $25 Sibling Discount!

Additionally, we are happy to be able to offer scholarships to qualified families, and we encourage 
everyone with financial hardship to apply!
